Indulge in these rich and decadent Black Forest Brownies, layered with cherries, whipped cream, and chocolate ganache.

- 1 cup unsalted butter
- 1 ½ cups granulated sugar
- 1 cup brown sugar
- 4 large eggs
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1 cup cocoa powder (unsweetened)
- ½ tsp baking powder
- ½ tsp salt
- 1 cup dark chocolate chips
- 1 can cherry pie filling (21 oz) OR 2 cups fresh cherries with syrup
- 2 tbsp Kirsch (cherry liqueur, optional)
- 1 cup heavy cream
- 3 tbsp powdered sugar
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 1 cup dark chocolate chips
- ½ cup heavy cream
- Whipped cream swirls for garnish
- Fresh cherries with stems for garnish
- Chocolate shavings for garnish
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a 9×13 baking pan with parchment.
- Melt butter in a saucepan. Stir in both sugars until combined.
- Whisk in eggs and vanilla.
- Sift together flour, cocoa, baking powder, and salt. Fold into wet mixture.
- Stir in chocolate chips.
- Spread batter into pan and bake 30–35 minutes until set. Let cool completely.
- Spread cherry pie filling (mixed with Kirsch if using) evenly over cooled brownies. Chill 10 minutes.
- Beat heavy cream, powdered sugar, and vanilla until stiff peaks form. Spread over cherry layer.
- Heat cream until just simmering. Pour over chocolate chips. Stir until smooth.
- Drizzle or spread ganache over whipped cream layer.
- Pipe whipped cream swirls, top with cherries, and sprinkle chocolate shavings.
- Slice into squares and serve chilled.
Notes
- For a non-alcoholic version, omit the Kirsch.
- Ensure brownies are completely cooled before adding the cherry layer.
- Store leftovers in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
