Description

Indulge in these rich and decadent Black Forest Brownies, layered with cherries, whipped cream, and chocolate ganache.


Ingredients

  • 1 cup unsalted butter
  • 1 ½ cups granulated sugar
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 4 large eggs
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup cocoa powder (unsweetened)
  • ½ tsp baking powder
  • ½ tsp salt
  • 1 cup dark chocolate chips
  • 1 can cherry pie filling (21 oz) OR 2 cups fresh cherries with syrup
  • 2 tbsp Kirsch (cherry liqueur, optional)
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 3 tbsp powdered sugar
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 cup dark chocolate chips
  • ½ cup heavy cream
  • Whipped cream swirls for garnish
  • Fresh cherries with stems for garnish
  • Chocolate shavings for garnish

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a 9×13 baking pan with parchment.
  2. Melt butter in a saucepan. Stir in both sugars until combined.
  3. Whisk in eggs and vanilla.
  4. Sift together flour, cocoa, baking powder, and salt. Fold into wet mixture.
  5. Stir in chocolate chips.
  6. Spread batter into pan and bake 30–35 minutes until set. Let cool completely.
  7. Spread cherry pie filling (mixed with Kirsch if using) evenly over cooled brownies. Chill 10 minutes.
  8. Beat heavy cream, powdered sugar, and vanilla until stiff peaks form. Spread over cherry layer.
  9. Heat cream until just simmering. Pour over chocolate chips. Stir until smooth.
  10. Drizzle or spread ganache over whipped cream layer.
  11. Pipe whipped cream swirls, top with cherries, and sprinkle chocolate shavings.
  12. Slice into squares and serve chilled.

Notes

  • For a non-alcoholic version, omit the Kirsch.
  • Ensure brownies are completely cooled before adding the cherry layer.
  • Store leftovers in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
