- 1 lb (450 g) ground beef
- 1 small onion, finely chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 packet taco seasoning (or homemade mix)
- ½ cup water
- 1 can (10 oz) cream of mushroom or cream of chicken soup
- 1 cup sour cream
- 2 cups shredded cheddar cheese (divided)
- 1 bag Nacho Cheese Doritos (about 9–10 oz), slightly crushed
- Fresh cilantro or green onions, chopped (for garnish)
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
- In a skillet over medium heat, cook beef and onion until browned. Drain excess fat.
- Stir in garlic, taco seasoning, and water. Simmer for 5 minutes.
- In a bowl, mix the soup and sour cream until smooth.
- Add half of this mixture into the cooked beef. Stir well.
- In a greased 9×13 inch baking dish, layer half of the crushed Doritos.
- Spread the beef mixture evenly on top.
- Add the remaining soup-sour cream mixture.
- Sprinkle 1 ½ cups shredded cheese over the top.
- Finish with the rest of the Doritos and remaining cheese.
- Bake uncovered for 20–25 minutes, until cheese is melted and bubbly.
- Garnish with cilantro or green onions before serving.
Notes
- Feel free to customize the recipe by adding your favorite vegetables.
- For a spicier version, add jalapeños or hot sauce to the beef mixture.
