Description
A comforting and delicious Cheesy Meatball & Potato Bake that combines savory meatballs with tender potatoes and gooey cheese.

- 500 g (1 lb) ground beef (or beef + pork mix)
- 1 small onion, finely grated
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 egg
- ½ cup breadcrumbs
- 2 tbsp fresh parsley, chopped
- 1 tsp paprika
- 1 tsp salt
- ½ tsp black pepper
- 5–6 medium potatoes, peeled and sliced into ½ cm rounds
- 2 cups (500 ml) marinara or tomato sauce
- 1 ½ cups (150 g) shredded mozzarella cheese
- ½ cup (50 g) grated Parmesan cheese
- 1 tbsp olive oil
- Fresh parsley for garnish
Instructions
- In a large bowl, mix ground meat, onion, garlic, egg, breadcrumbs, parsley, paprika, salt, and pepper until combined.
- Roll into small meatballs (about the size of a golf ball).
- Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
- Grease a round or rectangular baking dish with olive oil.
- Layer the sliced potatoes evenly on the bottom. Season lightly with salt and pepper.
- Pour half of the tomato sauce over the potatoes.
- Place the raw meatballs on top of the potatoes.
- Pour the remaining sauce evenly over the meatballs.
- Cover with foil and bake for 35–40 minutes, until potatoes are tender and meatballs are cooked through.
- Remove foil, sprinkle mozzarella and Parmesan cheese generously on top.
- Bake uncovered for another 10–15 minutes, until cheese is bubbly and golden brown.
- Garnish with fresh parsley and serve hot with a side salad or crusty bread.
Notes
- For a spicier kick, add red pepper flakes to the meatball mixture.
- Feel free to substitute ground turkey or chicken for a lighter option.
- Leftovers can be stored in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
