Description
Golden, crunchy bread balls stuffed with gooey cheese and savory mix-ins, baked (or fried) to perfection and served pull-apart style. A perfect appetizer, snack, or party centerpiece!
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 can refrigerated biscuit dough (or homemade bread dough, about 16 oz)
- 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
- 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
- ½ cup cooked bacon bits or diced ham (optional)
- ¼ cup red onion, finely diced (optional)
- 2 tbsp fresh parsley, chopped
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 2 large eggs, beaten
- 2 cups panko breadcrumbs
- ½ tsp garlic powder
- ½ tsp paprika
- Salt & pepper, to taste
- Ranch, marinara, or garlic dipping sauce for serving
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C) if baking. Or heat oil to 350°F (175°C) if frying.
- Flatten each piece of dough slightly. Add a spoonful of mozzarella, cheddar, bacon/ham, and onion in the center. Pinch dough tightly around filling to seal.
- Roll each sealed dough ball in flour, then dip into beaten eggs, then coat fully in seasoned panko breadcrumbs.
- Arrange on a greased baking sheet and bake for 18–22 minutes, until golden brown, or fry in batches for 3–4 minutes until crispy and deep golden. Drain on paper towels.
- Arrange in a circle or pile on a platter. Sprinkle with parsley and serve warm with dipping sauces.
Notes
- Feel free to customize the filling with your favorite ingredients.
- For a vegetarian option, omit the bacon/ham.
- These can be made ahead of time and reheated in the oven.
