Description

Cheesy Tonkatsu Sticks are a delicious snack made with tender pork loin wrapped around gooey mozzarella cheese, coated in crispy panko breadcrumbs and deep-fried to perfection.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 boneless pork loin chops (thinly sliced, about ½ inch thick)
  • 4 mozzarella cheese sticks (or cheese slices rolled into sticks)
  • Salt & black pepper, to taste
  • ½ cup all-purpose flour
  • 2 large eggs (beaten)
  • 1 cup panko breadcrumbs
  • Oil for deep frying
  • For Serving (Optional):
  • Tonkatsu sauce or Japanese curry sauce
  • Fresh parsley for garnish

Instructions

  1. Pound the pork slices thin with a meat mallet for even cooking.
  2. Season both sides lightly with salt and black pepper.
  3. Place a cheese stick in the center of each pork slice.
  4. Roll tightly around the cheese, tucking in the edges. Use toothpicks if needed to hold shape.
  5. Dredge each pork roll in flour, dip into beaten egg, and coat well with panko breadcrumbs.
  6. For extra crispiness, repeat egg + panko coating twice.
  7. Heat oil in a deep pan to 170–175°C (340–350°F).
  8. Fry the pork rolls until golden brown and crispy, about 4–5 minutes.
  9. Remove and drain on a paper towel.
  10. Remove toothpicks (if used), slice into sticks, and arrange on a plate.
  11. Serve with tonkatsu sauce or over Japanese curry for extra flavor.
  12. Garnish with chopped parsley.

Notes

  • For a healthier option, consider baking the rolls instead of deep frying.
  • Adjust the seasoning according to your taste preferences.
  • These can be made ahead of time and reheated in the oven for a crispy finish.
