- 500 ml (2 cups) whole milk
- 100 g (½ cup) sugar
- 3 tbsp cornstarch
- 4 egg yolks
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 2 tbsp butter
- For the Topping:
- 200 g (7 oz) milk or dark chocolate, melted
- 200 ml (¾ cup) heavy cream
- Powdered sugar for dusting
- Caramel sauce (optional, for drizzle)
Instructions
- Prepare the Crust: Mix crushed graham crackers with melted butter and sugar. Press firmly into the bottom and sides of a 9-inch pie dish. Chill in the fridge for 20 minutes or bake at 175°C (350°F) for 10 minutes for a firmer crust.
- Make the Chocolate Cream Layer: In a saucepan, whisk together sugar, cocoa powder, cornstarch, and egg yolks. Slowly add milk while whisking. Cook over medium heat until thick and smooth. Stir in chopped chocolate and vanilla until melted. Pour into the crust and chill while preparing the vanilla layer.
- Make the Vanilla Cream Layer: Whisk sugar, cornstarch, and egg yolks in a saucepan. Gradually add milk and cook over medium heat until thick. Stir in vanilla and butter. Spread gently over the chocolate layer. Chill 30 minutes.
- Chocolate Topping: Heat heavy cream until steaming, then pour over chopped chocolate. Stir until smooth and glossy. Spread over the pie.
- Finish & Serve: Dust with powdered sugar. Drizzle with caramel sauce for extra indulgence. Chill at least 4 hours (or overnight) before slicing.
