These festive pinwheel cookies are a delightful treat for any occasion, combining vanilla and chocolate flavors with a splash of color.

- 2½ cups all-purpose flour
- 1 tsp baking powder
- ½ tsp salt
- 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 2 large eggs
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 2 tbsp cocoa powder
- Red and green food coloring (optional)
Instructions
- Mix Dry Ingredients: In a bowl, whisk flour, baking powder, and salt. Set aside.
- Cream Butter & Sugar: In a separate bowl, beat butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Add eggs and vanilla; mix until combined.
- Combine & Divide Dough: Gradually mix in flour mixture. Divide dough into two halves. Mix cocoa powder into one half. Leave the other plain or color with red/green food coloring.
- Form Pinwheels: Roll each dough half into a rectangle of similar size. Place one on top of the other, gently pressing to adhere. Roll tightly into a log. Wrap in plastic and chill for 1 hour.
- Slice & Bake: Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Slice chilled dough into ¼-inch thick rounds. Place on a parchment-lined baking sheet. Bake 12–15 minutes until edges are set. Cool on a wire rack.
Notes
- These cookies can be decorated with sprinkles for added festive flair.
