  • 2 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 ½ cups (270 g) semi-sweet chocolate chips (or chunks)

Instructions

  1. In a medium bowl, whisk together flour, baking soda, and salt.
  2. In a large bowl, whisk melted butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar until smooth.
  3. Add egg, egg yolk, and vanilla; whisk until combined.
  4. Gradually fold dry ingredients into wet mixture until just combined.
  5. Stir in chocolate chips.
  6. Cover the bowl and refrigerate for at least 1 hour (this step is key for chewy cookies).
  7. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Line baking sheets with parchment.
  8. Scoop dough into 2-tbsp portions and place 2 inches apart.
  9. Bake 9–11 minutes, until edges are golden but centers look slightly underbaked.
  10. Let cool on baking sheet 5 minutes, then transfer to a rack.
