- 9 sheets lasagna noodles
- 1 pound ground beef or Italian sausage
- 24 ounces tomato sauce
- 15 ounces ricotta cheese
- 16 ounces mozzarella cheese
- 1 cup Parmesan cheese
- 1 egg
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 onion, chopped
- 2 teaspoons Italian seasoning
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon pepper
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
- Cook the lasagna noodles according to package instructions until al dente; drain and lay flat on a kitchen towel.
- In a skillet over medium heat, cook ground beef or sausage with chopped garlic and onion until browned.
- Add tomato sauce and Italian seasoning; mix until smooth.
- In a baking dish, layer meat sauce, noodles, ricotta mixture, and mozzarella cheese; repeat until ingredients are used, finishing with mozzarella and Parmesan on top.
- Cover with aluminum foil and bake for 25 minutes; then remove foil and bake for an additional 15 minutes until bubbly and golden brown.
- Let cool for a few minutes before slicing.
Notes
- For a vegetarian option, replace meat with sautéed vegetables.
- Can be made ahead of time and refrigerated before baking.
