  • ½ tsp salt
  • ½ cup warm milk
  • 2 large eggs (room temp)
  • ½ cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 ½ cups heavy cream, chilled
  • ¾ cup mascarpone (or cream cheese for a firmer texture)
  • ½ cup powdered sugar
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • Chopped pistachios
  • Chopped hazelnuts or almonds
  • Toasted sesame seeds

Instructions

  1. Make the dough domes: In a large bowl, mix flour, sugar, yeast, and salt.
  2. Add warm milk and eggs, then knead until smooth.
  3. Incorporate softened butter gradually until dough is elastic and shiny.
  4. Cover and let rise for 1–2 hours until doubled in size.
  5. Shape into round buns (about the size of a small fist). Place on a lined baking tray.
  6. Let rise again for 30–40 minutes.
  7. Brush with egg wash, sprinkle sesame or nuts, and bake at 180°C (350°F) for 18–20 minutes.
  8. Cool completely.
  9. Prepare the cream filling: Whip chilled cream until soft peaks form.
  10. Add mascarpone, powdered sugar, and vanilla. Whip again until firm and creamy.
  11. Assemble the domes: Slice the top off each bun.
  12. Pipe or spoon a large swirl of cream filling inside.
  13. Replace the “lid” and sprinkle with pistachios or nuts.
