- 2 pounds Yukon Gold potatoes
- 5 cloves garlic, peeled
- 4 tablespoons unsalted butter
- 1 cup heavy cream
- 1 teaspoon salt
- ½ teaspoon black pepper
- 2 tablespoons chopped fresh chives (optional)
Instructions
- Peel and chop the potatoes into evenly sized chunks.
- Place them in a large pot, cover with cold water, and add a pinch of salt.
- Bring to a boil and simmer until the potatoes are fork-tender (15–20 minutes).
- In a small saucepan, heat butter and cream with the garlic cloves over low heat until garlic is soft (about 10 minutes).
- Mash the softened garlic into the butter-cream mixture.
- Drain the cooked potatoes and return them to the pot to steam dry for a few minutes.
- Use a potato masher or ricer to mash the potatoes until smooth.
- Gradually mix in the garlic-infused butter and cream until fully combined.
- Season with salt and pepper to taste.
- Garnish with fresh chives and serve warm.
