Crispy Baked Onion Ring Chips are a delicious and healthier alternative to traditional fried onion rings, perfect for snacking or as a side dish.

- 2 large onions (yellow or sweet, cut into thick rings)
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 2 large eggs, beaten
- 1 cup panko breadcrumbs
- ½ cup regular breadcrumbs
- ½ cup grated parmesan cheese
- 1 tsp garlic powder
- 1 tsp smoked paprika
- ½ tsp cayenne pepper (optional, for heat)
- Salt & black pepper, to taste
- Cooking spray or olive oil
Instructions
- Peel onions and slice into thick rings.
- Separate into individual rings.
- In Bowl 1, season flour with salt and pepper.
- In Bowl 2, place beaten eggs.
- In Bowl 3, mix panko, regular breadcrumbs, parmesan, garlic powder, paprika, cayenne, salt, and pepper.
- Dip each onion ring into flour, shaking off excess.
- Dip into beaten eggs.
- Coat thoroughly in the breadcrumb mixture, pressing lightly to stick.
- Preheat oven to 220°C (425°F).
- Line a baking tray with parchment paper and lightly spray with cooking spray.
- Arrange onion rings in a single layer.
- Spray or drizzle lightly with olive oil.
- Bake for 15–20 minutes, flipping halfway, until golden brown and crispy.
- Enjoy hot with ketchup, spicy mayo, or ranch dip.
Notes
- For extra crunch, use a mix of panko and regular breadcrumbs.
- Adjust the cayenne pepper according to your heat preference.
- These onion rings can be stored in an airtight container for a few days.
