Ingredients

  • 12 hot dogs or cocktail sausages
  • 12 mozzarella cheese sticks (or thick cheese slices cut into sticks)
  • 12 slices of sandwich bread (crusts removed)
  • 2 large eggs (beaten)
  • 1 cup (120 g) all-purpose flour
  • 1 ½ cups (150 g) breadcrumbs (panko preferred for extra crunch)
  • Oil for deep frying (vegetable or canola)

Instructions

  1. Flatten each slice of bread with a rolling pin.
  2. Place one hot dog and one cheese stick on each bread slice.
  3. Roll tightly, sealing the edges by pressing slightly.
  4. Dredge each roll lightly in flour.
  5. Dip into beaten egg, coating fully.
  6. Roll in breadcrumbs until completely covered.
  7. Heat oil in a deep pan to 350°F (175°C).
  8. Fry rolls in batches until golden brown and crispy, about 2–3 minutes.
  9. Drain on paper towels.
  10. Serve hot with ketchup, mustard, or a spicy mayo dip.
