Description

Golden, crunchy fried chicken fillets stacked high with melted cheese, fresh lettuce, creamy mayo, and drizzled with tangy hot sauce, all sandwiched in soft buns. A hearty, indulgent chicken sandwich that’s sure to satisfy.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 boneless chicken breasts (pounded evenly)
  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • 1 tsp paprika
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • ½ tsp cayenne pepper
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp black pepper
  • 1 ½ cups all-purpose flour
  • ½ cup cornstarch
  • 1 tsp paprika
  • 1 tsp onion powder
  • 1 tsp salt
  • ½ tsp cayenne pepper
  • Vegetable oil, for deep frying
  • 4 burger buns (toasted or buttered)
  • 4 slices cheddar cheese
  • 1 cup shredded lettuce
  • ½ cup mayonnaise
  • Hot sauce or buffalo sauce (for drizzle)

Instructions

  1. In a bowl, combine buttermilk, paprika, garlic powder, cayenne, salt, and pepper. Add chicken breasts, cover, and marinate at least 2 hours (overnight for best flavor).
  2. Mix flour, cornstarch, and spices in a bowl. Remove chicken from marinade, dredge in flour mixture, dip back in buttermilk, then coat again in flour for extra crunch.
  3. Heat oil in a deep skillet to 350°F (175°C). Fry chicken fillets 6–8 minutes until golden and cooked through (internal temp 165°F / 74°C). Drain on paper towels.
  4. Spread mayonnaise on buns. Layer shredded lettuce, then crispy chicken fillet. Add cheddar cheese slice on top while chicken is hot so it melts slightly. Drizzle with hot sauce. Stack with another bun layer if making double stacks.

Notes

  • For extra flavor, marinate the chicken overnight.
  • Adjust the amount of cayenne pepper based on your spice preference.
  • Ensure the oil is at the right temperature for optimal frying.
