Description

A fun and colorful recipe for making easy tie-dye mango strawberry fruit leathers that are both delicious and healthy.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups fresh or frozen mango chunks (thawed if frozen)
  • 2 cups fresh or frozen strawberries (hulled, thawed if frozen)
  • 23 tbsp honey or maple syrup (optional, adjust to taste)
  • 1 tbsp lemon juice (to brighten flavor & preserve color)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Purees: In a blender, puree mango with 1 tbsp honey (if using) until completely smooth. Set aside. Rinse the blender, then puree strawberries with lemon juice and honey until smooth.
  2. Strain (Optional): For a smoother leather, strain both purees through a fine sieve to remove seeds and fibers.
  3. Create the Tie-Dye Effect: Preheat oven to 170°F (75°C) or the lowest setting. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or a silicone mat. Pour dollops of mango puree and strawberry puree alternately onto the sheet. Use a skewer, knife tip, or spoon to gently swirl the two colors together to create a tie-dye pattern (avoid over-mixing).
  4. Dry the Fruit Leathers: Spread mixture evenly into a thin layer (about ⅛ inch thick). Place in oven and dry for 4–6 hours, or until it is no longer sticky to the touch and peels easily from the parchment. (If using a dehydrator, set to 135°F / 57°C and dry for about 6–8 hours.)
  5. Cut & Store: Let cool, then peel off parchment. Cut into squares, strips, or fun shapes. Roll in parchment strips if desired. Store in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 1 week, or refrigerate for longer freshness.

Notes

  • Adjust sweetness according to your taste preference.
  • Ensure the fruit is well-thawed if using frozen fruit for better blending.
  • Experiment with other fruit combinations for different flavors.
