Description

Ingredients

  • 1 tsp sugar
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 ¼ cups warm water (110°F / 43°C)
  • 3 tbsp olive oil
  • 2 cups crushed tomatoes (canned or fresh)
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 tsp oregano
  • 1 tsp Italian seasoning
  • Salt & pepper to taste
  • 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
  • ½ cup sliced pepperoni
  • ½ cup cooked bacon, chopped
  • ½ cup cooked Italian sausage crumbles
  • ½ cup cooked ground beef (optional, for extra meaty flavor)
  • ½ cup shredded cheddar (optional, for cheesy blend)
  • Fresh parsley or basil, for garnish

Instructions

  1. In a bowl, combine warm water, sugar, and yeast. Let sit 5 minutes until foamy.
  2. Add flour, salt, and olive oil. Mix until dough forms, then knead for 7–10 minutes until smooth.
  3. Place in an oiled bowl, cover, and let rise for 1 hour (until doubled).
  4. Heat olive oil in a saucepan. Sauté garlic until fragrant.
  5. Add crushed tomatoes, oregano, and Italian seasoning. Simmer 15 minutes until slightly thickened. Season to taste.
  6. Preheat oven to 425°F (220°C). Grease a deep-dish pan (or cast-iron skillet).
  7. Punch down dough and press into the pan, covering the bottom and sides.
  8. Sprinkle a layer of mozzarella directly on the dough (this prevents sogginess).
  9. Spread sauce evenly over cheese.
  10. Add cooked sausage, ground beef, pepperoni, and bacon.
  11. Top with another thick layer of mozzarella and cheddar.
  12. Bake 30–35 minutes until crust is golden and cheese is melted and bubbly.
  13. Let rest 5 minutes before slicing.
  14. Sprinkle fresh parsley or basil on top.
