Description
A creamy and comforting dish combining pasta, chicken, and a rich cheese sauce with a honey BBQ twist.
Ingredients
Scale
- 2 cups cooked elbow macaroni
- 2 cups cooked chicken breast, shredded
- ½ cup honey BBQ sauce
- 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
- 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
- 1 cup cottage cheese
- ½ cup milk
- 1 tablespoon butter
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- ½ teaspoon smoked paprika
- ½ teaspoon onion powder
- Salt to taste
- Black pepper to taste
Instructions
- Start by cooking the macaroni according to the package directions. I always cook pasta just until al dente so it keeps its shape when mixed with the sauce later. Drain it and set it aside while you prepare the creamy base.
- In a medium saucepan over medium heat, melt the butter. Add the milk, cottage cheese, garlic powder, onion powder, smoked paprika, salt, and pepper. Stir gently until the mixture becomes warm and smooth.
- Next, add the shredded cheddar and mozzarella cheeses. Stir slowly as they melt into the sauce, creating a thick, velvety texture.
- In a large bowl, combine the cooked macaroni, shredded chicken, and honey BBQ sauce. Toss until the chicken and pasta are evenly coated with the sweet and smoky sauce.
- Pour the creamy cheese mixture over the pasta and chicken. Stir everything together until each piece of macaroni is coated with the rich sauce.
- Transfer the mixture to a baking dish if you prefer a baked finish, or serve it immediately for a stovetop version of High Protein Honey BBQ Chicken Mac and Cheese.
Notes
- Either way, the result is creamy, smoky, and irresistibly comforting.
