Description

Savor the irresistible combination of crispy fried chicken and sweet, spicy hot honey nestled in flaky biscuits.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tbsp baking powder
  • ½ tsp baking soda
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 6 tbsp cold unsalted butter, cubed
  • ¾1 cup cold buttermilk
  • 1 lb boneless, skinless chicken thighs or breasts (cut into biscuit-sized pieces)
  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp paprika
  • ½ tsp garlic powder
  • ½ tsp salt
  • ¼ tsp pepper
  • Oil for frying
  • ½ cup honey
  • 12 tbsp hot sauce (adjust to heat preference)
  • 1 tsp red pepper flakes (optional for extra heat)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 425°F (220°C).
  2. In a large bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
  3. Cut in cold butter using a pastry cutter or fork until mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
  4. Stir in buttermilk until dough comes together.
  5. Turn dough onto a floured surface, fold it over a few times, then pat to about ¾-inch thickness.
  6. Cut biscuits with a round cutter and place on a baking sheet.
  7. Bake for 12–15 minutes, until golden brown.
  8. In a bowl, soak chicken pieces in buttermilk for at least 30 minutes (up to overnight).
  9. In another bowl, mix flour, paprika, garlic powder, salt, and pepper.
  10. Dredge chicken pieces in flour mixture, pressing to coat.
  11. Heat oil in a skillet over medium-high heat. Fry chicken for 4–5 minutes per side or until golden brown and cooked through (165°F / 74°C). Drain on paper towels.
  12. In a small saucepan, warm honey, hot sauce, and red pepper flakes over low heat until combined.
  13. Split warm biscuits in half.
  14. Place a piece of fried chicken inside, then drizzle generously with hot honey.
  15. Serve immediately.

Notes

  • For extra flaky biscuits, avoid overworking the dough.
  • Adjust the amount of hot sauce in the hot honey to suit your heat preference.
  • Chicken can be marinated overnight for better flavor.
