Instructions

  1. Make the Dough: In a large mixing bowl, combine warm milk and yeast. Let sit for 5 minutes until foamy. Add egg, yolk, sugar, and butter. Mix until combined. Gradually add flour and salt, mixing until dough comes together. Knead on a floured surface (or with a dough hook) for about 8 minutes until smooth and elastic. Place dough in a greased bowl, cover, and let rise for 1–1½ hours until doubled in size.
  2. Prepare the Filling: In a small bowl, mix butter, sugar, lemon zest, and lemon juice until creamy.
  3. Assemble the Rolls: Punch down risen dough and roll into a rectangle (about 14×9 inches). Spread lemon filling evenly over dough. Roll tightly from the long side into a log. Slice into 12 equal pieces. Arrange rolls in a greased 9×13-inch baking dish. Cover and let rise for 30–40 minutes.
  4. Bake: Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Bake rolls for 20–25 minutes or until lightly golden.
  5. Glaze: Whisk powdered sugar and lemon juice until smooth. Drizzle over warm rolls and garnish with lemon zest.
