Description

A New York bodega favorite turned into a hearty, cheesy wrap. Juicy ground beef, melted cheddar, fresh veggies, and a toasted tortilla make this a handheld comfort meal!

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 lb ground beef (80/20 for juiciness)
  • 1 medium onion, finely diced
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • ½ teaspoon chili powder (optional, for heat)
  • Salt & pepper, to taste
  • 6 slices American or cheddar cheese
  • 4 large flour tortillas (10-inch burrito size)
  • 1 cup shredded lettuce
  • 12 tomatoes, sliced
  • ¼ cup pickles (optional)
  • ¼ cup mayonnaise or burger sauce

Instructions

  1. Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium-high heat.
  2. Add onions and cook until softened, about 3 minutes.
  3. Stir in garlic and ground beef. Cook until beef is browned and crumbled.
  4. Season with paprika, garlic powder, chili powder, salt, and pepper.
  5. While beef is still hot, layer slices of cheese on top.
  6. Cover with a lid for 1–2 minutes until cheese is melted into the beef. Mix gently.
  7. Warm tortillas on a skillet for 30 seconds per side.
  8. Spread a thin layer of mayo or sauce.
  9. Add shredded lettuce, tomato slices, pickles (if using), and a generous scoop of chopped cheese filling.
  10. Roll tightly into burrito-style wraps.
  11. Place seam-side down on a skillet until golden and slightly crispy. Flip and toast the other side.
  12. Slice in half and serve hot with fries and dipping sauce.

Notes

  • For extra flavor, consider adding jalapeños or hot sauce to the filling.
  • These wraps can be made ahead of time and reheated in a skillet.
  • Feel free to customize the toppings based on your preference.
