A quick and tasty Mason Jar Taco Salad recipe that layers delicious ingredients for a fresh meal.
Ingredients

- 1 lb (450 g) ground beef or turkey
- 1 packet taco seasoning (or homemade mix: chili powder, cumin, paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, pepper)
- ½ cup water
- 2 cups cooked rice (white or brown)
- 1 cup diced tomatoes (or salsa)
- 1 cup diced avocado (squeeze lime juice on top to prevent browning)
- 1 cup canned black beans, rinsed and drained
- 1 cup corn (fresh, frozen, or canned)
- 1 cup shredded lettuce (or chopped romaine)
- 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
- Fresh cilantro, for garnish
- Optional: Sour cream or Greek yogurt
- Optional: Salsa or pico de gallo
- Optional: Jalapeño slices
- Optional: Lime wedges
Instructions
- In a skillet, cook ground beef/turkey until browned.
- Drain excess fat, add taco seasoning and water.
- Simmer until thickened. Let cool slightly before layering.
- Layer the jars starting with cooked rice at the bottom.
- Add diced tomatoes (or salsa) next.
- Then add avocado cubes (tossed with lime juice).
- Add black beans and corn.
- Add taco meat.
- Top with lettuce.
- Finish with shredded cheese and cilantro.
- Seal jars with lids and refrigerate until ready.
- When serving, shake the jar to mix or pour into a bowl.
Notes
- Layer heavier/wet ingredients at the bottom and lighter/delicate ingredients on top to keep it fresh.
- Use lime juice on avocado to prevent browning.
- Customize with optional add-ins as desired.
