Description

Ramen Taco Crunch is a unique fusion dish that combines the flavors of traditional tacos with the texture of crispy ramen shells, making it a perfect appetizer or snack.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 packs instant ramen noodles (any flavor, discard seasoning packet)
  • 2 eggs, beaten
  • 1 Tbsp cornstarch
  • 1 Tbsp soy sauce
  • 1 tsp sesame oil (optional, for aroma)
  • Oil for brushing or spraying
  • 250 g (½ lb) ground beef or ground pork
  • 1 small onion, finely chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 Tbsp taco seasoning (or a mix of chili, cumin, paprika, and oregano)
  • ½ cup tomato sauce or salsa
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • ½ cup shredded cheese (cheddar or mozzarella)
  • Sour cream or spicy mayo drizzle
  • Fresh cilantro or parsley, chopped
  • Lime wedges, for serving

Instructions

  1. Boil noodles for 2–3 minutes, just until slightly soft (not mushy). Drain and let cool slightly. Toss with beaten eggs, cornstarch, soy sauce, and sesame oil — this will help bind them.
  2. Lightly oil a muffin tin or small ramekins. Divide the ramen mixture into the cups, pressing firmly to form small nests or taco cup shapes. Bake at 200°C (400°F) for 15–18 minutes, or until golden and crispy around the edges. Let cool for 5 minutes, then carefully remove from molds.
  3. In a skillet over medium heat, cook ground meat until browned. Add onion and garlic, sautéing until fragrant. Stir in taco seasoning and tomato sauce, and simmer for 3–4 minutes. Adjust seasoning to taste.
  4. Fill each ramen cup with the hot taco mixture. Sprinkle with cheese so it melts slightly. Drizzle with sour cream or spicy mayo, and top with fresh herbs.
  5. Serve warm with lime wedges for a zesty finish.
