Description
Red Velvet Cake Truffles with Sparkle are irresistible treats that combine the rich flavor of red velvet cake with a delightful cream cheese frosting, all coated in a shimmering layer of white chocolate or candy melts.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 box red velvet cake mix (plus ingredients on the box: eggs, oil, water)
- 1 cup (240 g) cream cheese frosting (store-bought or homemade)
- 2 cups (350 g) white chocolate or red candy melts
- Red edible glitter, sparkling sugar, or sanding sugar (for coating)
Instructions
- Prepare red velvet cake according to package (or your recipe). Allow it to cool completely.
- Crumble the cooled cake into fine crumbs in a large bowl. Mix in cream cheese frosting gradually until you get a moist, dough-like texture.
- Scoop 1 tbsp portions and roll into smooth balls. Place on a parchment-lined baking sheet. Chill for 1 hour in the fridge (or 20 minutes in the freezer).
- Melt chocolate or candy melts until smooth. Dip each chilled cake ball into the melted coating, then roll or sprinkle with edible glitter/sparkling sugar. Place back on parchment paper to set.
- Allow coating to harden fully. Place truffles in mini cupcake liners for a pretty presentation.
Notes
- For a homemade red velvet cake, ensure to follow a reliable recipe for best results.
- Experiment with different types of edible glitter for varied effects.
- Store truffles in an airtight container in the fridge for up to a week.
