Description

Ingredients

  • 1 teaspoon white vinegar
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease and flour three 8-inch round cake pans.
  2. In a large bowl, mix the flour, sugar, cocoa powder, and salt together.
  3. In another bowl, combine the oil, buttermilk, eggs, food coloring, and vanilla; mix well.
  4. Gradually add the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients and mix until just combined.
  5. In a small bowl, combine baking soda and vinegar; add it to the cake batter and gently fold in.
  6. Divide the batter evenly among the prepared pans.
  7. Bake for 25-30 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean.
  8. Let the cakes cool in the pans for 10 minutes, then remove and cool completely on wire racks.
  9. For the frosting, beat cream cheese and butter until smooth, then mix in powdered sugar and vanilla.
  10. Frost the cooled cakes and stack them to serve.
