- 2 tbsp unsweetened cocoa powder

- ½ cup (120g) unsalted butter, softened

- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- ½ cup (120ml) buttermilk
- 1 tbsp red gel food coloring
- 1 tsp white vinegar
- 8 oz (200g) cream cheese, softened
- 4 tbsp (60g) unsalted butter, softened
- 1 cup (120g) powdered sugar
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
Instructions
- Prepare the cream filling: In a bowl, beat cream cheese and butter until smooth. Add powdered sugar and beat until fluffy. Add vanilla and mix again. Refrigerate for 15–20 minutes to firm up.
- Make the Red Velvet domes: Preheat oven to 350°F (180°C). In a bowl, whisk together flour, cocoa, baking powder, baking soda, and salt. In another bowl, beat butter and sugar until creamy. Add the egg, then the vanilla. Mix. Add food coloring and vinegar. Add dry ingredients alternately with buttermilk until smooth. Scoop small mounds of batter onto a baking sheet (use a mini dome mold or simply shape spoonfuls). Bake for 10–12 minutes, until soft but set. Let cool completely. Crumble 1 or 2 domes to make the red crumb coating.
- Assemble: Pipe a generous swirl of cream filling onto one dome. Place another dome on top to create a sandwich. Gently roll the top in the red velvet crumbs to fully coat it. Chill for 10 minutes for a clean finish.
