A fun and festive recipe for Scream & Sweet Chocolate Chip Cookies, perfect for Halloween or any celebration.

- 1 cup (225 g) unsalted butter, softened
- 1 cup (200 g) granulated sugar
- 1 cup (200 g) brown sugar, packed
- 2 large eggs, room temperature
- 1 ½ tsp vanilla extract
- 3 cups (360 g) all-purpose flour
- 1 tsp baking soda
- ½ tsp baking powder
- 1 tsp salt
- 2 cups (340 g) semi-sweet chocolate chips
- Black decorating icing (gel or royal icing)
- White decorating icing (vanilla royal icing or melted white chocolate)
- Pink fondant or candy melts (for hearts)
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Line baking sheets with parchment paper.
- In a large bowl, cream together butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until fluffy.
- Beat in eggs one at a time, then add vanilla extract.
- In another bowl, whisk together flour, baking soda, baking powder, and salt.
- Gradually add dry ingredients to the wet mixture, mixing until combined.
- Fold in the chocolate chips.
- Scoop about 2 tablespoons of dough per cookie onto baking sheets, leaving room to spread.
- Bake for 10–12 minutes, until golden around the edges but soft in the center.
- Let cool completely before decorating.
- Spread an oval base of black icing onto the center of each cookie.
- Pipe white icing in the shape of the ghost face (long oval).
- Use black icing to add the eyes, nose, and open screaming mouth.
- Shape little hearts with pink fondant or melt pink candy melts, pipe onto parchment, let set, then attach to cookies with a dab of icing.
- Allow icing to set for 20–30 minutes before stacking.
- Store in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 5 days.
