- 1 bag tortilla chips (or Fritos), lightly crushed
- 4 cups shredded lettuce
- 1 lb ground beef (or turkey)
- 1 packet taco seasoning
- ½ cup water
- 1 (15 oz) can refried beans (warmed slightly)
- 1 cup salsa or pico de gallo
- 1 ½ cups sour cream
- 2 cups guacamole
- 2 cups shredded cheddar or Mexican blend cheese
- 1 ½ cups diced tomatoes
- ½ cup black olives (optional)
- ½ cup green onions, sliced
- Jalapeño slices (optional)
- Fresh cilantro (optional)
- Lime wedges (optional)
Instructions
- In a skillet, cook ground beef until browned.
- Drain fat, then add taco seasoning and water. Simmer for 5 minutes until thickened.
- In a clear trifle bowl, carefully layer refried beans, salsa or pico de gallo, lettuce, seasoned ground beef, sour cream, guacamole, and cheese.
- Top with diced tomatoes, olives, and green onions.
- Cover and chill for at least 30 minutes before serving.
- Serve with tortilla chips for dipping, or spoon onto plates.

- For a vegetarian option, substitute ground beef with black beans or lentils.
