Description

A delightful recipe for strawberry sweet rolls that combines a soft dough with a sweet strawberry filling and a creamy topping.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 cups all-purpose flour
  • ½ cup warm milk
  • 2 ¼ tsp instant yeast (1 packet)
  • ¼ cup granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • ⅓ cup unsalted butter, softened
  • ½ tsp salt
  • 1 ½ cups fresh strawberries, diced
  • ¼ cup sugar (for filling)
  • 1 tbsp cornstarch
  • 1 tsp lemon juice
  • 8 oz cream cheese, softened
  • ½ cup powdered sugar (for cream cheese layer)
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • Fresh strawberries, sliced (for topping)
  • Extra cream cheese filling or glaze (for topping)
  • Powdered sugar (for dusting)

Instructions

  1. Warm the milk and mix with yeast and sugar; let sit 5–10 minutes until foamy.
  2. Add eggs, butter, salt, and flour. Knead until soft and elastic (about 8–10 minutes).
  3. Place in a greased bowl, cover, and let rise until doubled (about 1 hour).
  4. In a saucepan, combine strawberries, sugar, cornstarch, and lemon juice. Cook on medium heat until thickened into a jam-like consistency. Cool completely.
  5. Roll dough into a rectangle (12×16 inches). Spread cooled strawberry filling evenly over dough.
  6. Roll tightly into a log and slice into 8–10 rolls. Place in a greased baking dish, cover, and let rise another 30–40 minutes.
  7. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Bake rolls for 25–30 minutes, until golden brown.
  8. Beat cream cheese, powdered sugar, and vanilla until smooth. Spread cream cheese mixture on top of cooled rolls.
  9. Garnish with fresh strawberries and dust lightly with powdered sugar.

Notes

  • Ensure the milk is warm but not hot to activate the yeast properly.
  • Let the rolls cool before adding the cream cheese layer for best results.
  • These rolls are best served fresh but can be stored in an airtight container for a few days.
