Ingredients
Scale
- 2 cups (480 ml) whole milk
- ½ cup (120 ml) heavy cream
- ½ cup white chocolate chips
- 1 tablespoon sugar (optional, depending on sweetness)
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 3–4 drops blue food coloring (gel preferred)
- A pinch of salt
- 2 tablespoons honey or melted white chocolate (for the rim)
- Silver sanding sugar or edible silver glitter (for the rim)
- Blue sanding sugar (optional, for the rim)
- Whipped cream (for topping)
- Mini marshmallows (for topping)
- Blue sprinkles (for topping)
- White chocolate curls (for topping)
Instructions
- Decorate the mug: Dip the rim of your mug in honey or melted white chocolate. Immediately dip into a mix of silver sanding sugar and blue sugar. Set aside while preparing the cocoa.
- Make the Blue Velvet Hot Cocoa: In a saucepan over medium-low heat, warm the milk + heavy cream until steaming but NOT boiling. Add the white chocolate chips and whisk until fully melted and smooth. Stir in vanilla, sugar (if using), and a pinch of salt. Add blue food coloring, a few drops at a time, until the cocoa is a soft velvet blue.
- Serve: Pour the hot cocoa into the decorated mug. Top with a big swirl of whipped cream. Add a pile of mini marshmallows. Finish with blue sprinkles, edible glitter, or white chocolate shavings.
Notes
- Adjust the sweetness by adding or omitting sugar based on your preference.
- For a more vibrant blue color, use gel food coloring.
- Feel free to customize toppings based on your taste.
